چکیده

Abstract Escherichia coli has been used as a host to construct the cell factory for biobased production of chemicals from renewable feedstocks. Because galactose is found in marine biomass major component, strategy utilization E. gained more attention. Although and glucose co-fermentation reported using engineered strain, few reports have covered fermentation supplemented with sole carbon source mutant lacking repressor-specific catabolite repression (CCR). Here, we report effects deregulation CCR ( galR − galS ) source, strains. In double (GR2 strain), an increase rates sugar consumption growth was observed compared parent strain. fermentation, wild-type W3110 its GR2 GR2PZ , pfkA zwf consumed at higher rate than those values obtained fermentation. However, GR2P strain showed no difference between fermentations source. This study provides essential information CCR-deregulated

Effect of amino sugars on catabolite repression in Escherichia coli.

N-acetylglucosamine was found to be a good repressor source for catabolite repression of the beta-galactosidase system in Escherichia coli. It was found capable of increasing the severity of repression by glucose or gluconate when included in the medium with either of these substrates. N-acetylglucosamine was shown to be assimilated under these conditions, but had no effect on culture growth ra...

Yeast carbon catabolite repression.

Glucose and related sugars repress the transcription of genes encoding enzymes required for the utilization of alternative carbon sources; some of these genes are also repressed by other sugars such as galactose, and the process is known as catabolite repression. The different sugars produce signals which modify the conformation of certain proteins that, in turn, directly or through a regulator...

Carbon catabolite repression in yeast.

Control of gene expression is a basic regulatory mechanism of living organisms. In microorganisms, glucose or other rapidly metabolizable carbon sources repress the expression of genes that code for enzymes related to the metabolism of other carbon sources. This phenomenon, known as catabolite repression, allows microorganisms to cope effectively with changes in the carbon sources present in th...

Catabolite repression gene of Escherichia coli.

A catabolite repression gene (cat) which alters the sensitivity of Escherichia coli to catabolite repression has been mapped by transduction and shown to be located between the pyrC and purB genes. When the cat-1 mutation was studied in a number of genetic backgrounds, the results showed that this mutation affects the synthesis of more than one catabolic enzyme but does not completely eliminate...
